The Third Annual Congress of Neighboring Communities is coming up! Please save the date for this year’s Congress which will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Twentieth Century Club (4201 Bigelow Boulevard, Pittsburgh PA).

Governor Thornburgh Cites CONNECT as Model of Intergovernmental Cooperation

At the Allegheny League of Cities and Municipalities’ Spring Conference, Governor Dick Thornburgh gave a presentation titled, “The Past, the Present and the Future of Pennsylvania Local Government,” in which he cited CONNECT as a positive model of intergovernmental cooperation that should be supported in order to combat some of the issues facing our local governments.

“Perhaps a good beginning point would be serious consideration and support of the University of Pittsburgh’s CONNECT project already up and running in its efforts to align governmental activities within the City of Pittsburgh and its “near neighbors,” the 35 municipalities that abut the city’s boundaries and are home to 56% of the County’s population,” he said.
